Information Center Associate
The Perelman Quadrangle Information Center (PQIC) is the point of contact and informational resource for all campus visitors and members of the University of Pennsylvania community. Information Center Associates report to the Assistant Building Manager on duty. Associates will be responsible for the following:
- Assist Information Center Coordinators in their daily functions.
- Serve as contact and informational resource for all visitors and users of the Perelman Quadrangle.
- Be knowledgeable of all the resources available at the PQIC and where they are located in order to assist visitors in an effective and efficient manner.
- Restock informational materials at the Center and notify an ICC if inventories are low.
- Be knowledgeable of all Perelman Quadrangle facilities, services and activities as well as general campus and local community information.
- Assist with maintaining logs of the number of visitors to the center, types of questions asked and availability of needed resources and services.
- Read university publications such as the Daily Pennsylvanian in order to be aware of any campus activities and those specifically held in the Perelman Quadrangle. Share any pertinent information with your fellow staff members and the ICCs. Volunteer information about campus and community events that may not already be listed.
- Provide high-quality, front-line customer service and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Be able to contribute ideas and suggestions to better improve operations of the PQIC.
- Whenever possible, obtain literature from local restaurants, hotels or tourist attractions and other campus and Philadelphia venues or services.
- Answer telephones, sort Perelman Quadrangle mail, maintain bulletin boards and LED units and manage lost and found.
- Take a proactive approach to keeping the PQIC clean and organized.
- Maintain sign-in sheets for Irvine practice rooms.
- Act as a security presence by overseeing video monitors at the desk and by authorizing loading dock deliveries via the monitor or telephone.
- Other duties as assigned by the ICCs.
- Will be required to wear PQwear.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Team oriented.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and with a diverse student and administrative customer base.
- Familiarity with Windows XP, Microsoft Word, and Internet browsers.
- Professional attitude and a strong work ethic.

The PQIC is staffed M-F from 8am until 6pm during the summer and then daily from 8am until midnight for the Fall/Spring semester hours.
